Healing From Our Failures

Helen Keller said “Be of good cheer. Do not think of today’s failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles.”

True words we can all agree-but how many of us are spending so much time focusing on our failures that we are allowing them to remain like a “Keep Out” sign as the last barrier to our authentic and true selves? Healing from our failures takes great courage. Healing from our failures is not easy. The absence of healing is like placing a “Keep Out” sign on our dreams, our joys, and our ability to see that we are all deserving of a life that pursues accomplishment and success.

Choices, decisions, and actions from the past do not dictate who you are today and all that you are capable of becoming. Each of us are living a life of becoming. When we lose the baggage of our past and wander into a life of becoming we realize that what matters most today is how you live each day, and how able we are to give all this life all that we have to offer. Continuing to worry about what happened in the past will be like a big “Keep Out” sign between you and your ability to experience true joy. There is nothing you can do to change the past, there are however gifts in embracing and accepting that it is now a part of your journey. If you want to reach the sunny place that beckons you, you must focus on healing yourself from your own negative perception of past failures. The past you are not necessarily proud of will become good once you use it to define what you will or will not accept in your life today-use it to create personal boundries. Use it to make you strong. Focus today on what is in your control ā€“ the power inside of you, the gifts you’ve to offer in life, your family, your loves, and your health. If you feed the inner craving for these fundamentals in a healthy way, the “Keep Out” signs will disappear and the road ahead will be brighter than ever.
